From BusinessWeek Finding A Job, February 3, 2010

“Recruiters are skittish and the job market is more competitive than ever, but career services directors say 2010 may be the year of the turnaround…” reads the headline to a recent BusinessWeek article, entitled MBA Job Outlook Improving?

What do you think – is the market for MBAs improving?  We’ve heard several of our partner schools say this year will be equal to or slightly worse than last year when it comes to placement percentages.  Here’s the good news if you’re interested in Best Buy.  We didn’t fill our quota for full time hires last Fall and still have openings for roles beginning in May.  As a matter of fact, we’ve expanded our search and have reached out to 10 additional top MBA schools looking for top talent for our Sr Financial Analyst role.  We’re also hiring more interns this year than previous years.  We had our first group of Finance MBA intern candidates visit Minneapolis last week – we met some great talent!  So we think the market is improving!

Give us your feedback – what’s the market like for interns and full time hires right now?  What are you doing to secure employment?  Are you doing anything different?
